VOCABULARY # 2

1) Obesity-the condition of being grossly fat or overweight
    America has a really bag obesity problem.
2) Accumulate-to acquire an increasing amount of something
    Dust accumulates on top of my desk.
3) Mass-large body of matter with no definite shape
    The mass of the table is very high.
4) Disease-a disorder of structure or function in a human, animal or plant
    An organic disease is caused by a physical or physiological change to some tissue or organ of the body.
5) Diet-to restrict oneself to small amounts or special kinds of food in order to lose weight
   A lot of people go on diet's in order to lose weight.
6) Prevalence-the fact or condition of being prevalent
   Another change is the prevalence of concern about the lack of optimism among young people.
7) Stigma-a mark of disgrace associated with a particular circumstance, quality, or person
   There is a stigma associated with schizophrenia.
8) Prevent(able)-to keep something from happening
   People would like to prevent bad things from happening to them.
9) Adolescent-a young person in the process of developing from a child to an adult
   Everybody goes through an adolescent stage.
10) Cardiovascular-relating to the heart and blood vessels.
     I've had to learn about the cardiovascular system in past years.
11) Excessive-More than necessary 
     Some people have an excessive amount of cars.
12) Mechanism-a system of parts working together in a machine
     Robots can have a complex set of mechanisms within it.
13) Sedentary-tending to spend much time seated: somewhat inactive
     People can be sedentary from time to time
14) Predispose-to make someone liable or inclined to a specified attitude, action, or condition
     Parents predispose their children a lot in order to get  them to behave
15) Syndrome-a condition characterized by a set of associated syptoms
     Down syndrome is a serious disease.
